Weird World

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Read this first. Weird World is a location-based game. Unlike our other titles, it processes your precise GPS position, and it lets you take photos of real buildings that other players can see. Buildings you capture are recorded on a public blockchain, including their coordinates. Sections 5, 6 and 7 explain exactly what that means before you decide to play.

2. Information We Collect

DataPurpose
Precise location (GPS)Showing you on the map, spawning nearby crates and monsters, validating walked distance, checking you are close enough to capture a building
Wallet public addressAuthentication, ownership of heroes and captured buildings, on-chain payments
Guest account keyPlaying without a wallet — a key generated on your device identifies your progress
Photos you takeDisplayed on the building you captured, visible to other players
Captured building dataCoordinates, height, footprint area and a derived identifier of buildings you claim
Gameplay recordsSparks earned and spent, crates opened, monsters defeated, hero XP, clan membership, distance walked
IP addressProcessed transiently by our hosting provider for rate limiting and abuse prevention; not stored in our game database
Device informationScreen dimensions and platform, for rendering the 3D map
Local storage dataSession token, collected crate IDs, walking-pass state, display preferences (AsyncStorage)

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Email addresses, real names or phone numbers
  • Passwords, private keys or seed phrases
  • Contacts, calendar or photo library contents (only photos you actively take or choose for a capture)
  • Background or continuous location — location is used only while the app is open and in the foreground
  • Biometric data
  • Advertising identifiers; we run no ads and no third-party ad tracking

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

  • Art. 6(1)(b) — Contract performance: location, gameplay records and wallet address are required to provide a location-based game
  • Art. 6(1)(a) — Consent: access to your device's location and camera, granted through the operating system permission prompt and revocable at any time in system settings
  • Art. 6(1)(f) — Legitimate interest: abuse prevention, rate limiting, anti-cheat and rendering optimisation

5. Location Data

The game cannot work without your position — crates, monsters and capturable buildings are generated around wherever you actually are.

  • Location is read only while the app is open. We do not request or use background location.
  • Your position is sent to our server when it is needed to award something — opening a crate, defeating a monster, validating walked distance, or capturing a building.
  • We keep the walking totals needed to award Sparks and to detect implausible movement. We do not build or retain a continuous history of your movements.
  • Your live position is never shown to other players. Other players see buildings that have been captured, not the people who captured them moving around.
  • You can revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings. The game will no longer be playable, but your account is unaffected.

6. Photos and User Content

When you capture a building you may attach a photo, which is uploaded to our servers and displayed on that building to every other player.

  • Only photos you deliberately take or select are uploaded. We do not scan your photo library.
  • Photos are public within the game. Do not upload images of identifiable people, private interiors, or anything you do not have the right to share.
  • We may remove any image that is unlawful, infringing or inappropriate, and may suspend accounts that repeatedly upload such content.
  • To have an image removed, write to us at the address in section 15 with the building location; we act on justified requests without undue delay.

7. On-Chain Data (Public and Permanent)

The following is written to the Solana blockchain and is publicly visible and cannot be modified or deleted by us or by you:

  • Your wallet address, in every transaction you sign
  • Hero NFT ownership, class and level progression
  • Captured buildings, including their geographic coordinates
  • Payments in SOL or $SKR, and claimed $SKR rewards

Think about what that implies: a public record of buildings you captured is, indirectly, a public record of places you have physically been. If that matters to you, capture buildings away from your home and workplace, or play as a guest without connecting a wallet. Blockchain records are immutable — a deletion request cannot reach them.

8. Playing Without a Wallet

You can play as a guest. A key is generated and stored on your device and identifies your progress; no wallet, email or name is involved, and nothing is written on-chain. If you delete the app or clear its data without connecting a wallet, that guest account and its progress cannot be recovered by us — we have no other identifier for you.

9. Local Data Storage

Your session token, collected crate IDs, active walking pass, guest key and display preferences are stored locally on your device (AsyncStorage). Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them.

10. Third-Party Services

ProviderRole
MapboxMap tiles and 3D building data; receives the map area you are viewing
OSRM routingWalking and cycling routes; receives start and destination coordinates when you plan a route
NetlifyHosting of our game API; transiently processes IP addresses in request logs
Neon (PostgreSQL)Database holding accounts, gameplay records and captured buildings
HeliusSolana RPC access for reading and sending transactions

Expo (EAS)Application builds and over-the-air updates
Solana Mobile dApp StoreDistribution of the application

We do not sell your data, and we run no advertising or analytics SDKs.

11. International Data Transfers

Our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. The Solana blockchain is a global public network with no defined location.

12. Data Retention

  • Account and gameplay records: for as long as the account exists
  • Photos: until you or we remove them, or the account is deleted
  • Walking totals: retained in aggregate for reward limits and anti-cheat; not kept as a movement trail
  • Server request logs: retained briefly by our hosting provider for security purposes
  • On-chain records: permanent and outside our control

13. Your GDPR Rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to the address in section 15 from the wallet address concerned, or with your in-game name for a guest account, and we will respond within one month.

Deletion has a hard limit: we can delete your account, photos and gameplay records from our database. We cannot delete anything already written to the blockchain (section 7), because no one can.

14. Supervisory Authority, Children, Security

You may lodge a complaint with the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).

The game is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We never receive your private keys — transactions are signed inside your wallet app. We make no automated decisions producing legal effects concerning you.
